I'd like to alert okayers to the top two suspect Hull reproductions currently circulating on okay. These are:
1. Hull Magnolia Tassel Vase, marked Hull 7 - 8-1/2. Being made in both the pink/blue and yellow/brown gebos. Easy to spot as the color 'blending' is awful...just stripes sprayed across the vases with the middle being mostly white. These two pictures are suspect reproductions. The second vase even has'crazing' to simulate age! Also, at any given time there are a dozen or so of these for sale. Beware when you see so many of the same 'original' popping up! I HAVE JUST ADDED THE THIRD PICTURE which almost needs no explanation. This green horror pops up from time to time. NOT A HULL!
2. The second suspect reproduction circulating are twosmall Hull Magnolia Ewers marked Hull 5-7" and Hull 14 4-3/4".Usually the mold is sloppy as is the painting. Not usually 'stripey,' though I have seen one of those recently (picture three). There may be excessive 'dirt' markings put on the piece to simulate use/age. I have seen it marked as 'repro' on occasion. Not as easy to spot as the tassel vases, but the fact that there are literally DOZENS of this same 'original' on okay at any given time is enough to raise the flag of caution when consideringbuying this piece.
In addition, I'm keeping my eye on other small Hull vases (usually Magnolia) as there are a couple types where, again, dozens of 'originals' seem to be popping up.....stay tuned!
